How do I know if my home will be good for a newborn session?

Being an in-home newborn photographer has its challenges-- the biggest one being that I have no idea what a home will look like before I go into it. I can make almost any home work, but the best ones have good natural light (large windows without dark coverings) and good furnishings. With furnishings, I don't mean that everything has to be perfectly decorated-- I often love more minimal spaces! But things that photograph the best are usually not dark, heavy furniture but light, simple rooms. This beautiful session was taken on a dark and cloudy day but their home was so perfect that the light couldn't have been better.
